Mapas Culturais free software, developed by Instituto TIM, arrives to Santo André-SP. On November 17th, the City Government launched at the auditorium of the City Hall the CulturAZ platform, the ninth installation of the Mapas Culturais software. The event was attended by approximately 100 people – including authorities, managers, cultural agents and the press.
After the demonstration of the platform, Carlos Grana, mayor of Santo André; Oswana Fameli, deputy mayor and secretary of Economic Development, Science and Technology; Tiago Nogueira, secretary of Culture and Tourism; and Patrick Azevedo, Instituto TIM representative spoke to the guests about the launch. “Our mission is to value the production of the city’s cultural agents. This project, developed in partnership with Instituto TIM, will help in the achievement of this goal”, said the mayor.
Instituto TIM provided a training session for managers of the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism so they could use the platform. They will be responsible for multiplying knowledge within the universe of public management and among cultural agents. “We intend on making a large campaign so that producers and managers may participate. Santo André is a very rich city in terms of culture,” said secretary Tiago Nogueira. He noted that the last municipal cultural census was carried out in 2002 and published in printed format. “Now, with new technologies, this census has been greatly improved, since it becomes a calendar and management tool,” he added.
Patrick Azevedo highlighted the long-term partnership between the Instituto TIM and the Santo André City Government, which started out with the TIM Faz Ciência program, and stressed the collaboration as an unique characteristic of this platform. “This is much more than a public-private partnership, because civil society is participating as well,” he explains. The event was finalized with a cocktail party and a music presentation, in addition to a press conference given by the municipal authorities.
