Instituto TIM releases 2019 Activities Report

The projects covered in the report are its own initiatives such as Academic Working Capital, Instituto TIM-OBMEP Scholarships, Bateria do Instituto TIM and O Círculo da Matemática do Brasil, in addition to the Garantéa-ISS project, sponsored by Instituto TIM, and the support to the Centro Brasileiro da Criança e do Adolescente Casa de Passagem Ana Vasconcelos.

Influence of parents’ knowledge and attitude

The research “Mathematics of children and parents”, carried out by O Círculo da Matemática do Brasil in 2017, showed that parents’ knowledge in Mathematics, attitudes toward the subject and engagement in their children’s activities influence children’s performance. The survey interviewed and tested 1,512 pairs of children from 3rd and 5th grade from public schools and their parents (or guardians) in 20 cities across the country. Instituto TIM supports the 14th SNCT

Just like in previous editions, Instituto TIM is sponsoring the 14th National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT). The initiative is coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), and this year it counts on over 7.4 thousand activities of science and technology disclosure in 258 municipalities of the entire country, held between October 23rd and 29th. 450 thousand people involved in 2016

In the year in which it completed three years of operation, Instituto TIM involved around 450 thousand people through 10 projects and support to science and technology museums and centers. In 2016, for the first time, the initiatives reached all the states of Brazil and the Federal District. Círculo reaches more teachers in RJ

More teachers of the state of Rio de Janeiro are participating in the training sessions about the approach of O Círculo da Matemática do Brasil this year. So far, the training sessions in Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, Niterói and São Gonçalo have already involved 270 participants, more than double compared to last year, when 106 teachers were trained.
